The INVA
The International Association Villes et Ports (AIVP) was established in 1988. Its seat is in Le Havre (Normandie). It brings together legal persons under public and private law, actors in the development of port cities, divided into three categories: port authorities; local authorities, private or public companies. It supports its members in the implementation of new strategies to enable them to better cope with the changes that affect the economic, social and environmental development of the port city.
The AIVP has 190 members in about 100 port cities in nearly 50 countries.
The Association’s activity is focused on three pillars:
- the organisation of the network and the services to members,
- the management of international projects and the exchange of experience,
- the organisation of events (presential and dining-up).
The AIVP team works on a daily basis in three official languages: French, English and Spanish.

About AIVP
The AIVP evolves within a complex City Port ecosystem and operates in a cross-cutting logic. Its members include local, regional or national authorities, private companies, ports, but also universities or architectural firms. The aim and added value of this association are therefore the bringing together the actors, the sharing of knowledge and know-how, the benchmark and research, in order to strengthen the dynamism of maritime and river port cities in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation.
