The key premise is that Karantina can be more than an isolated urban city quarter stigmatized by its poor urban conditions. By breaking barriers and giving the port a new identity, Karantina can become a part of the new public and healthy port district, full of interaction and innovation with its surrounding areas with an eye to contributing to sustainability. port city district. The key aspects of this project is the enhancement of connectivity of the urban fabric while supporting port activities and the introduction of new algaculture facilities. The project makes a statement that the port does not exist to solely make money but to support the lives of the residents of Beirut and provide a bright future. With the introduction of the algae farm at one of the most valuable locations in the city, the port is sending a message that it is working to innovate itself and at the same time to improve the living environment for its inhabitants.
