The Landesfachtag is a cooperation event with the Institute for Environmental, Human and Social Sciences, Department of Geography, the Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) and the Geographical Institute of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) to discuss and convey descriptions and analyzes on the diverse human-environment relationships in Europe. My presentation elaborated on how ecosystems fit in sustainable port development, explained ‘stocks of capital’ on which port-city ecosystems are built and I also translated the ecosystem concept to Hamburg maritime capital. Feedback from the participants was consistently positive. They were able to take away numerous new impulses for their geography lessons.
